The DIYC had five boats sailing in a race yesterday. The winds were very light just prior to the start but picked up nicely once the race began. The winds built to about 12 mph as the boats sailed 4 miles down the Morgan River in excellent sailing conditions where they made the turn to sail back to finish at the marina.
There were a number of spectators at the marina watching the start.
Principle Race Officer Jerry Hubbard was ably assisted by Race Committee members David Hubbard and Skip Hoyt in running the race.
The final results based on corrected time were: 1st Roy Crocker 123.35 min, 2nd Jack Shaughnessy 125.95 min, 3rd Greg Shymske 130.23 min, 4th Rick Brown 132.12 min, 5th Russ Gore DNF due to mechanical failure.
We are looking to more races in the future. Hopefully with the return of the marina and getting COID 19 behind us we can get back to our normal activities.
