Commodore’s Blog – July 2019

We have held 2 gatherings or “sunsets on the deck” at the Marina this summer. Over 130 people have attended the 2 events so far. We have at least one more planned – save the date for Monday August 5th. Hopefully the new shoreline dock will be installed by then.

The cruise to Little Capers Island is coming up as is our next fishing event – both of them in July. See the calendar. Then in August (8/10 to be precise) the always popular Morgan River Sandbar event with the Edisto Island and Fripp Island Yacht Clubs.

No Board of Governors’ meeting is planned for August. At our July meeting, we approved at least 5 new memberships. Our membership levels are back to pre-Hurricane Matthew levels.

The next social event is the Pot Luck at the pool on Sept. 16. Save the date is going out soon.

Planning for our participation in Pledge the Pink (October) continues. Look for volunteer opportunities as we approach October.

We reviewed the budget for the Commodore’s Ball to be held Nov. 9th. The DIYC subsidizes about half of the non-food related costs of this great social event. Save the date. The band, Threshold, will be back!!!!!!

If you have pictures of a DIYC event, please send them to Louise Moses (lpmoses@yahoo.com). Louise will get them posted to our website for all to enjoy.

Safe travels to all those heading out of town for a few weeks or months. Be safe if on the water or on the road and as always, smooth sailing and safe boating and kayaking to all.
